So, I remember pregnant moms were saying "I'm gonna get a flu shot." and have always wondered if it's safe for them to do so. (I've always been under the impression that you are not suppose to get any kind of vaccinations if you are pregnant.) After one of my very good friends (who's pregnant) said she was getting a flu shot, I decided to look it up on the internet (of course). It is RECOMMENDED for pregnant women to get flu shots. That finding shut my mouth up.
Guess what I found out today while reading on vaccination for my little pumpkin?!
Although it's recommend that pregnant women and nursing moms to get flu shots, they have, however, NEVER BEEN TESTED on such groups to determine if it would cause any harm to the fetus or the young babies. (as it stated on the vaccine product insert.)
WTF is up with that?! I think something's not adding up here.....

FLOW
Forget about bottled water, they are not any better.
Why do we need to buy something when the companies that are selling it are, in fact, going to great length to destroy the environment so they can make a buck off of it. Why are we supporting such acts? Why?
Learn the truth about water and the big companies that are privatizing water sources to make profits. Watch FLOW and help to make a difference!

Random Though #1 : Is It Love?
I've learned lots of things by being a mom. And one of them is that smoking will increase the chance of your baby dieing of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), by a lot.
I used to smoke, I don't anymore. Yet I keep seeing MOTHERS and fathers smoking around their new born babies and infants. I certainly hope that the moms are not breastfeeding their babies if they are smoking... (although breast milk is the best for babies, not when it's mixed with nicotine).
I know that when they were pregnant, their doctors must have told them all about smoking and SIDS, so..... why are they still doing it knowing it would harm their child(ren)? I'm very puzzled. If you made the decision to bring a life into this world, didn't you also make the decision to nurture and protect it?
Edit: I just found out that it is recommended for smoking moms to breastfeed their child(ren) because the benefits out weight the risks.

Amazon's Green Page
I thought this is really interesting and absolutely awesome!
Check out Amazon's Green Page for Eco-Friendly and Green products, you'll be amazed at what you can find.
Also, when you make purchases on Amazon.com, try to do it through the Environmental Working Group's Amazon Page. A percentage of the purchase will go to EWG for their work! (Though right now I'm still trying to see how to get to the Green Page this way...)
Happy shopping!

Green Tip #1: Go Organic
Our family has been doing more and more to give back to the earth ever since our son Lucious joined us. Going green is not only good for the planet but also great for your health! So I have decided to start posting some Green Tips to share with everybody :)
Green Tip # 1 : Go Organic!
In order to be organic among other things, the land where whatever it is is being raised on has to be pesticide free for three years. Conventional farms use pesticides that are harmful to the human body (before you even eat the crops because they can travel by air), they leach into the land and into our water sources.
The countries of European Union have banned some pesticides because of their toxicity.
If people have to wear full hazardous protective suits and gas masks to prepare for pesticide application, then why is it safe to put it on the food we eat?

When selecting meat products, make sure you are going for "organic pastured" cows, lamb, etc, that were not treated with hormones and antibiotics (If they are treated with chemicals, remember they also go straight into the earth at some point.) and are humanly treated. Organic pastured is important here, if it only says pastured, it may mean that the grass that they fed on contained pesticides.
When selecting poultry, go for the Free Range ones! Mary's Free Range Chicken/Duck/Turkey are good choices.
Choosing organic foods may be more expensive than buying conventionally grown ones, but isn't your family's health worth the extra buck or two? (and don't forget that organic foods are also more nutritious and tasty). At the end of the day, I think that's not a bad bargain at all.....

Food, Inc.
Talking about documentaries. If you have not seen Food, Inc, you should.
If you think the burger in your hand only comes from a cow, think again!
Don't let big food corporations control what you eat or you don't eat.
Click here for Food, Inc. web site and official trailer. (Don't forget to sign the Child Nutrition Act Petition while you are there!)

Thirsty?
Human body is roughly 70 percent water. We might be able to not eat for a day or two but we can't survive without liquid for more than 36 hours (12 hours if you are in a desert).
But do you know what's in your water? (You'll especially wanna know about this if you drink Dasani brand water.)
Dasani Water, bought to you by the Coca-Cola Company, contains water, magnesium sulfate, potassium chloride and salt. At least that's what it says on the label.
Potassium chloride, along with two other chemical compounds is used to execute prisoners by lethal injection. Yes, you'll need a huge amount of it, but do you really wanna put something like this in your body? I wonder what'd happen if you drink 10-15 bottles of Dasani water in a day over the course of, let's say, 3 years?
Other than those on the ingredient list, it is also been found they contain Sodium Thiopental, one other ingredient for making the lethal injection cocktail, and Bromate, a human carcinogen.
Perhaps now, you would think twice before picking up that bottle of Dasani water... Or better yet, go green! Fill up a couple of BPA free water bottle with filtered water (most bottled water are purifies tap water anyways).
Saving the planet by saving yourself! :)
